·
Will you be the DJ performing at my event?
o Yes,
if I tell you I will by your DJ performing at your event then I will be.
With other companies, you may not know who your DJ will be until the day
of your event.
· Will you MC and coordinate my event?
o
Yes,
we will help you coordinate your event from start to finish at your
outline meeting a few weeks before.
·
Can we meet you before making our decision?
o
Yes, and we
recommend you do just that, so that you may know exactly who you are
dealing with. This affords you the best opportunity to evaluate our style
and personality.
·
What types of music do you play?
O
We will play a
variety of music styles to suit all ages so that everyone has a chance to
hear music that appeals to each individual.
·
If I want a song you don't have, can I bring it?
o Yes,
you sure can. As a matter of fact, if there is something you want to hear
and we don’t have it, we will try our best to have it at your event.
·
Can I make a list of songs to be played?
o Yes,
you are welcome to add to our “Top 250 plus” commonly most played song
list. We always strive to play as many requested songs from your guests
as possible.
·
Do you have backup equipment?
o Yes,
It’s just like having insurance. Back up equipment is for your peace of
mind as well as ours. (The show must always go on.)
·
How are you dressed?
o We
dress appropriately for each event based on the theme. Tuxedos are our
usual attire for weddings.
·
If something happened to you, who would DJ my party?
·
If something were to happen to me, we have other competent DJ’s on staff
to cover your event. If all of our staff is out on other events we then
utilize the services from our DJ referral group that we regularly network
with.
·
Should we include you for lunch/dinner?
o
It is not
necessary but very thoughtful when invited.
·
How is a DJ
better than a band?
o A
DJ will most likely have a much larger artist and music genre’s desired
to cover all age groups. A band will have significant limitations with
their style or sound. Bands almost always take breaks; your DJ
will play the evening non-stop! If so desired, your DJ / Entertainer can
interact with your guests. Band members are normally confined to the
stage or tethered to an instrument. Bands do not usually bring a
qualified MC for the evening. Your DJ also does double duty as MC.
·
How much
should I budget for the DJ?
·
Quoting Brides Magazine “with the average wedding reception
budget at approximately $15 - $20,000 nationally, DJ’s are valued at less
than 5% of that budget. At 5% that equals $750 to $1000 yet, actual costs
are quoted in smaller markets of $250 or less that’s only 1 & 1/4% to 1 &
3/4% of the national average. The article went on to say; This
seems to be a grossly disproportionate average when comparing the degree
of influence of the entertainment over the success of the reception (75%
or more), and the earned wage.” The article concluded by saying, “Be
mindful when budgeting for your DJ / entertainment, what percentage of
success would you expect out of your wedding reception? 5% or 75 %?”
· One
company I called said “all DJ's systems look alike.” Is this true?
·
No,
the common horror story we hear about is that “the DJ’s equipment looked
and sounded like a home stereo system”. Home stereo systems are not
engineered to handle the demands that professional DJ equipment is
designed for. Depending on the DJ’s interest in the Entertainment
profession, equipment quality will vary. Serious DJ’s will invest into
top-notch equipment for the long term and part time hobbyist typically
will opt for lesser grade equipment. Be sure the equipment used for your
event is professional quality equipment.
·
How can I
tell if a DJ will really play the requests my guests ask him for?
o
There is
no real way to ensure your DJ is playing all your guests requests.
However, a true entertainment professional will always be concerned about
playing to and for the crowd, including taking guests requests and mixing
them in thru ought the evening. Your concern for guests’ requests should
be stated at your consultation prior to the event.
·
What about
comparing DJ companies by video?
o
That is a
great way to preview how an event can turn out for you. You get to see the
guests having fun, your entertainers’ professionalism and audience
interaction ability and the overall appearance of the sound and lighting
equipment in action.
·
Every company
says they're the best. Who do I believe?
o
Of coarse
every company’s going to say they are the best! They wouldn’t be in
business very long if they didn’t believe they were the best. We
recommend that you do some research on the company and specific DJ you are
considering hiring. Check references! Are they members of any
professional DJ associations?
·
How do I know
if a company's DJs are good?
o
You don’t.
Unless you have seen them or know someone that has seen them I would meet
with them and see their references.
·
Why can't I
get a listing of all of the DJs in my area? Or the U.S.?
o
You can.
There are a few different internet sites to get lists or check
www.adja.com
(American disc jockey association)
·
Who do you
give my personal information to? Do you sell it?
o
No never. We
may ask your permission to use you as reference to help future couples
decide.
·
I have a
friend who likes music. Why can't he DJ for me?
o
He may not
have the experience needed or the professional equipment needed to do the
job may not even have the proper library of music needed. You may try him
out on a birthday party but I would not recommend trying him out on your
wedding reception.
·
What time
will you arrive at our event?
o
Usually 2
hrs before your first guests arrive.
·
Who picks the
music that you will play at our event?
o
You do unless
you would like us to read the crowd and play what ever keeps your guest
dancing.
·
Who will
oversee the events at our event?
o
Your DJ/ MC
that you meet at the outline meeting will oversee everything throughout
the event.
·
Are there any
hidden charges?
o
No every
thing is laid out before we book your event and then again at the meeting
no surprises!
·
Do I have to
tip the DJ at the end of the night, or to get requests played?
o
No you don’t
have to tip, but if your DJ does an exceptional job please feel free to
reward your DJ the company does not have a problem with that. Just a thank
you or great job or sending a thank you note back to the company is
rewarding enough!
·
How can I
reach you at the last minute?
o
Cell phone,
pager, toll free #-leave a message we check them through out the day.
